The enormous volume of transactions passing through financial institutions and related systems each day makes it a highly challenging task to follow the financial trail of the money launderer, especially within the context of cross-border transactions and alternative payment systems. Effective law enforcement requires a detailed knowledge of how these systems work as well as an awareness of the corresponding records that might be obtained during an investigation. In support of its efforts to assist other law enforcement investigators and analysts in gaining a better understanding and comprehension of these systems, this conference is facilitated by the Office of the Attorney General's Law Enforcement Division.
