Bogus E-Mail Claims to Come from Homeland Security, FDIC

A widespread scam e-mail suggests that a consumer's account has been involved in Patriot Act violations. The e-mail does NOT originate with the federal government. It is yet another attempt to trick consumers into divulging personal financial information. Do NOT follow the link that is offered to a so-called "ID Verifier," and under no circumstances should you ever respond to a demand for e-mail verification of your bank account's status.
