The goal and purpose of the Calibre Press Street Survival seminar is twofold:  Keep officers alive and give them the tools to enjoy a successful career in law enforcement.  In order to accomplish this mission, we need to tackle the realities and complexities of policing today for officers on the street.  We are committed to presenting up-to-date information, issues and videos while placing the responsibility for winning right where it belongs—with the individual officer.  Calibre Press, for the first time in its 30-year history, is owned by a law enforcement officer.  Lt. Glannon leads a cadre of instructors who are some of the most experienced, dynamic and respected in their profession.  The Street Survival seminar will continue presenting class training points such as the 5%er Mindset and When/Then Thinking while addressing aspects of the profession that are often overlooked.  The session topics will include, but not be limited to, the following:

The Warrior's Edge

Lt. Jim Glennon

Numerous case studies and videos of actual attacks on officers are dissected from a communication perspective and discussed with the goal of understanding and improving the attendee's street interaction skills.  While the course is designed to be dynamic, practical and fun, it takes the subject of officer safety seriously and begins by honoring those who have fallen in the line of duty.  Participants will develop a basic understanding of human nature, discuss the true reality of violence and examine how effective communication skills are the most important weapons in detecting and preventing attacks.  The seminar topics will include, but not be limited to, the following:

Officer Safety and Treating Others with Dignity and Respect:  Not Mutually Exclusive Ideologies

The "IDIOT" Factor:  Emotional Aspect of the Human Spirit

The 93%:  Body Language and Paralinguistic Behavior
