Any materials provided to the OAG that are marked as confidential, proprietary, or otherwise alleged to be excepted from public disclosure will be returned to the Applicant without review.

Course Requirements
For Open Meetings Act applications, please confirm that the training course submitted for approval meets the requirements of Senate Bill 286 Government Code section by checking ALL of the Open Meetings Act course requirements:
    General background of the legal requirements for open meetings;
    Applicability of the Open Meetings Act to governmental bodies;
    Procedures and requirements regarding quorums, notice, and recordkeeping under theOpen Meetings Act;
    Procedures and requirements for holding and open meeting and for holding a closed meeting; and
    Penalties and other consequences for failure to comply.

For Public Information Act applications, please confirm that the training course submitted for approval meets the requirements of Senate Bill 286 by checking ALL of the Public Information Act course requirements:
    The General background of the legal requirements for open records and public information;
    The applicability of the Public Information Act to governmental bodies;
    Procedures and requirements regarding complying with open records requests;
    The role of the attorney general under the Public Information Act; and
    Penalties and other consequences for failure to comply with the Public Information Act.

Certification
I recognize that the duration of each training section must be at least 1 hour in length in accordance with Government Code sections 551.005(a) and 552.012(b), and I certify that the training course(s) included with this application satisfies this requirement.
I recognize that our organization, and not the Office of the Attorney General, is responsible for issuing certificates to attendees upon course completion in accordance with Government Code sections 551.005(c) and 552.012(e), and I certify that our organization will comply with this requirement.

Submission of Course Materials

Applications for approval of open government training courses are not complete until all training course materials are received by the Office of the Attorney General. Applicants may submit training course materials to the Office of the Attorney General in any of the following forms:
  • Printed / Hard copy - To submit printed materials, proceed to the next page, click "view/print," print your completed application form, and mail it along with a hard copy of your training materials to the address provided on the last page of this application.
  • Electronic Files smaller than 2 MB � To submit electronic documents or files smaller than 2MB, proceed to the next page and attach the files electronically to your application. You may submit as many files as necessary as long as no one file is larger than 2 MB. Click view/print when you are finished to complete your application.
  • Electronic Files larger than 2 MB � To submit electronic documents, files, or interactive computer programs larger than 2 MB, proceed to the next page, click "view/print," print your completed application form, and mail it along with a CD-ROM containing your training materials to the address provided on the last page of this application.
  • Video (VHS / CD / DVD) - To submit video training courses, proceed to the next page, click "view/print," print your completed application form, and mail it along with a copy of the video and a complete transcript to the address provided on the last page of this application.
Helpful Tip: If you have a large Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, PowerPoint will allow to you "Print to PDF," which will create a much smaller file. If the resulting PDF is smaller than 2 MB, you will be able to upload it to this Web site on the following page.
