Color the Texas Holidays

Veterans Day - November 11

In 1918, World War I ended with a truce called the Armistice. A peace treaty was signed on November 11, 1919. That day became a holiday to honor all the soldiers who fought for their country. It was called Armistice Day.

Back then, World War I was called The Great War, because no one could imagine any war being greater! After World War II and the Korean War, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans Day. Now it is a holiday to honor the veterans of all wars.
