Memorial Day - May 30th

After the Civil War, many communities held celebrations honoring the soldiers who had returned to their homes. Two men in a small town in New York had the idea of holding a celebration to honor the soldiers who had died. On that solemn day, the soldiers’ graves were decorated in an impressive ceremony. Other towns and cities soon adopted the tradition and agreed that May 30th would be Memorial Day.
