AUSTIN - "I agree with and support the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but in the Olmstead case the Court of Appeals has incorrectly interpreted the ADA. In its decision, the Court misinterpreted the ADA to allow a federal court to deprive Texas of the right to make its own plans for treatment of disabled citizens. Texas has the right - and the responsibility - to run our own institutions. Accordingly, Texas will join the amicus brief in support of the state of Georgia in the Olmstead case."
