NEW BOSTON MAN SURRENDERS TO INTERNET BUREAU

Bowie County Sheriff, DA Assist in Child Pornography Case

AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn's Internet Bureau and local law enforcement officials have accepted the surrender of Jason Firth, 25, of New Boston in Bowie County.

Firth has been charged with possession and promotion of child pornography via the Internet, a third degree felony punishable by a maximum 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He was booked into the Bowie County Jail Thursday.

Internet Bureau and Bowie County Sheriff's investigators conducted a search warrant of the suspect's home on Jan. 10, and the Bureau has completed its forensics review of Firth's computer equipment in an effort to compile electronic evidence to present to the court. These are allegations brought against Firth. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
