CORNYN ANNOUNCES ARREST OF CHILD SUPPORT EVADER
Johnny Jay Jimenez arrested in Lamesa, Texas
AUSTIN - Texas Attorney General John Cornyn today announced the arrest of Child Support Evader Johnny Jay Jimenez who owes $25,745 in child support for two daughters in Yorktown, Texas.
"We have now brought to justice 20 Child Support Evaders since we reinvigorated the Evader program two years ago. My office will continue working with law enforcement officials to send the message to all dead beat parents that we are committed to finding them and to making them live up to their responsibilities, or suffer the consequences," Attorney General Cornyn said.
Jimenez was arrested last night in Lamesa by officers from the Lamesa Police Department and is currently being held without bond. The arrest was made possible by an anonymous tip provided to investigators with the Office of the Attorney General. Jimenez will be returned to DeWitt County where he faces up to six months in jail for failing to pay his child support.
For a noncustodial parent to be placed on the Evader page, there must be a court-ordered obligation with delinquent support in excess of $5,000 and an arrest warrant issued. The location of parent must be unknown and the parent has not made any payments in the last six months. The parent must not be involved in bankruptcy proceedings or receiving welfare benefits. To make information public, the custodial parent must sign a confidentiality waiver and supply a picture of the delinquent parent.
