Winkler County Attorney Found Guilty Of Official Oppression, Retaliating Against NursesBIG SPRING – Visiting District Judge Robert H. Moore III today sentenced Winkler County Attorney Scott Tidwell to 120 days in county jail. On Monday, a Howard County jury found Tidwell, 51, guilty of misusing his position as the county prosecutor and retaliating against two nurses who filed anonymous complaints with the Texas Medical Board about a local doctor. Tidwell was found guilty of two felony counts of misuse of official information and two felony counts of retaliation, as well as two misdemeanor counts of official oppression. In addition to receiving 120 days in county jail for his felony violations, Tidwell also received a 10-year probated prison sentence and must pay $6,000 in fines. The Texas Attorney General’s Office handled Tidwell’s prosecution.
