This CLE will provide lawyers with a judicial perspective on courtroom demeanor and etiquette.  It will include a review of relevant Local Rules for Travis County District Courts, as well as examples of offensive, disruptive, and distracting behavior attorneys should avoid in the courtroom.  The CLE will also offer examples of ethical rules attorneys should be mindful of, including prohibitions on ex parte communications with judges.

Robert L. Pitman, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, will provide an overview of the Western District of Texas and then address State and Federal cooperation in the Western District.  Topics covered will include cooperation with the Texas Attorney General’s Office, significant legal issues in the Western District including public corruption, drug trafficking, counter-terrorism, human trafficking, cyber-crimes.  Mr. Pitman will also discuss some significant legal cases and issues in the Western District that have been handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
