During the Eighty-sixth session, the Legislature made significant changes to the Open Meetings Act (OMA), and governmental bodies need to ensure that they comply with these new changes.

RELEVANT BILL  Summary
HB 2840 Created a right for members of the public to address the governing body of a political subdivision at an open meeting of the body.
HB 494 Modified the procedures for providing notice for a meeting held in response to an emergency or urgent public necessity, and it further clarified the meaning of those terms.
SB 1640 Revised a criminal provision of the OMA, making it a criminal offense to knowingly engage in a series of communications that involve deliberation of a quorum outside of a properly called meeting.
