The Texas Attorney General’s Office is seeking local volunteers for its Corpus Christi Child Support Division field office, which handles more than 48,000 child support cases in Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, Nueces and San Patricio counties.
Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., to assist attorneys and child support officers with a variety of duties, including data entry and filing. Individuals interested in volunteering should call (956) 992-7531 to reach Regional Outreach Coordinator Guadalupe Leal, who can provide additional information and arrange an interview.
“By generously donating their time, volunteers help our office to ensure the children in our child support system are not left vulnerable,” Attorney General Ken Paxton said. “We’re grateful to Texans who step up to support our state’s most precious resource: our children.”
Each year, volunteers across the state help the attorney general’s office serve Texas families and children more efficiently and effectively. Volunteering can be beneficial to people from different walks of life, including individuals seeking new job skills; student-interns seeking to satisfy course requirements; retirees and other Texans who simply wish to give back to their communities.
The attorney general's Child Support Division is directed by state and federal law to assist Texas families who currently receive or have received public assistance and request child support services. Services include locating absent parents; establishing paternity for children born to unmarried parents; establishing, enforcing, and modifying child and medical support orders; and collecting and distributing child support payments.
